The first UK live show by this astonishing selection of Ethiopian soul and funk artists, whose compilation CD The Very Best of Ethiopiques (Manteca) was one of the World Music sensations of 2007.

Mahmoud Ahmed (Africa Award winner, 2007 BBC Radio 3 World Music Awards) is one of the best-known of these artists outside Ethiopia. Arranger and composer Mulatu Astatqé has led the way in African-jazz crossovers, saxophonist Gétatchèw Mèkurya, pioneered free jazz and Alèmayèhu Eshèté is one of the most prolific singers in Ethiopian recorded music.

This will be the first time these four artists have performed together outside of Ethiopia. Come and find out why they've generated a global cult following.

For this unmissable concert, they’re backed by the Grammy nominated US-based Either Orchestra

serving up sizzling big band funk, soul and jazz work outs.

‘The African sound that has built up the biggest following among musicians outside the continent in recent years is Ethiopian dance music - especially that from the "golden age" of the 1960s and early 70s’ – The Guardian.
